Supplemental to Surficial Slope Failure in Rancho Arbolitos
Above Taunt Place
FINDINGS:
Staff has received proposals from two geotechnical firms for investigation of
the slope failure in Rancho Arbolitos. Staff feels that the proposal which
promises to best address the issues was offered by Group Delta Consultants,
Inc.
Group Delta proposes to advance a minimum of six backhoe tests trenches into
the slope to obtain soil samples and visual geologic data. These trenches
will be properly backfilled after sampling. Group Delta will evaluate both
immediate and longer-term hazards, identify the likely cause of failure,
recommend immediate mitigation measure, propose a permanent solution, and
estimate the costs to implement the recommendations made, all within five to
six weeks.
They agree to do this work on a time and materials basis with a not-to-exceed
cap of $14,780.00. General Fund Account No. 01-8970
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council appropriate $14,780.00 from the
unappropriated reserves and direct staff to engage Group Delta Consultants,
Inc. to perform the requested investigation.
