SUBJECT: Status of Negotiations with Cox Cable San Diego
for Cable Coverage of City Council Meetings
ABSTRACT
Staff will meet with representatives of Cox Cable on April 25,
1991. At this meeting, the details for rebroadcasting Council
meetings will be initiated. Another status report will be
brought to Council on May 14, 1991.
BACKGROUND
On February 19,1991, the city Council directed staff to initiate
negotiations with Cox Cable to outfit the Council Chambers with
the necessary equipment and technicians to televise council
meetings at no cost to the city.
FINDINGS
Staff has been meeting with representatives of Cox Cable to
include televising council meetings as a condition of their
franchise renewal. Negotiations on the terms and conditions for
this service will be initiated at the meeting with Cox Cable on
April 25.
FISCAL IMPACT
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council receive and file this
report.
