SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Construction of Tlerra Bonita and Twin Peaks
Roads Storm Drain Improvements (5207)
BACKGROUND:
On May 14, 1991, bids were opened for the construction of Tierra Bonita and
Twin Peaks Roads Storm Drain Improvements. The Engineer's Estimate was
$70,000 - $80,000.
F1NDINGS~
The following two (2) bids were received on May 14, 1991:
1. Walter H. Barber and Son, Inc.........................$ 94,866.80
2. H. S. Excel1 Corporat1on..............................$121,875.00
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost of the project, including construction engineering and
other contingencies is $106,000.00. The available budgeted amount is
$46,150.00 leaving a shortfall of $59,850.00. It ls recommended that City
Council appropriate $59,850.00 from the Redevelopment Agency fund balance
39-8930.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
An environmental study was previously conducted for the project. No further
stUdy is required.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Redevelopment Agency:
1. Award the bid to Walter H. Barber and Son, Inc. in the amount of
$94,866.80.
2. Appropriate $59,850.00 from the Redevelopment Agency fund balance
39-8930 to the project for construction, construction engineering and
other contingencies.
