Minor Reorganization
•One of two Senior Accountants announced her retirement in December
•Organizational review of Finance Division
•Proposed reorganization will:
1.Create a one-stop shop for payroll;
2.Realign tasks in the financial reporting/accounting group; and
3.Provide clear lines of succession and career advancement opportunities.
•HR conducted external and internal classification and compensation analysis
•Recommendations:
1.Reclassify one Senior Accountant with a monthly salary range of $6,515 -$7,919 down to an
Accountant, with a monthly salary range of $5,326 -$6,475
–shift higher level payroll duties to Senior Accounting Technician
2.Reclassify the only Senior Accounting Technician from a monthly salary range of $4,075 -$4,954
to a monthly salary range of $5,054 -$6,144

1.Approve the salary and benefit changes presented for
Management/Confidential employees and adopt the resolution
authorizing the City Manager to implement the changes and
incorporate them into the Salary and Benefit Plan document for
Management/Confidential Employees.
2.Adopt the resolution appropriating funds in Fiscal Year 2019-20 to
implement the financial terms of the changes to the Salary and
Benefit Plan for Management/Confidential employees.
3.Adopt the Resolution approving the City of Poway
Management/Confidential Salary Schedule and Poway Classification
Plan, which includes changes related to the minor reorganization in
the Finance Department.
