The service in this area has been lacking for years with little to no oversight. For many years our district operated in the black. So much so that on two separate occasions members of the conununity met with city officials to determine how we would spend our excess funds. Several years ago we decided to remove landscaping and water lines along the Sycamore Creek horse trails and put in boulders instead. This was done with excess funds from our district and only further reduced the cost of maintenance and water within our district. Myself and other residents in Sycamore Creek have to call the city routinely requesting landscape services, due to the poor work the contractor currently provides. I have personally watched the landscapers come in and simply blow off the sidewalks and leave in less than 30 minutes. My question is, where is the oversight of the contractor? Why isn't the Landscape supervisor for the city ensuring that we are getting the proper services and our monies worth? Most residents in Sycamore Creek wouldn't be opposed to a cost increase, but only if the service provided vastly improves. Occasionally, new plants are put in, but are so small to begin with that they die within a week. Watering has been reduced to a minimum and weeds in the areas to be maintained are rampant. I request that this tax only be raised if the service provided by the landscape contractor greatly improves. Additionally, let's start holding these contractors responsible with better oversight by the city.
