If you look at the color scheme and the fact that staff says the business will have a "delivery component", Amazon could very likely be the unnamed tenant. I was told by City staff that the actual approval for any store to operate out of that location will require City, but not necessarily, Council approval, as the location is already zoned to allow, among other things, a typical grocery store. If in fact the unnamed tenant is Amazon, delivery will likely be a significant piece of their business model, and the store will likely be anything but a typical grocery store. The plaza has six exits, five of which are right turn only exits, on to already very congested streets. The exits onto Twin Peaks immediately move into an uphill, reducing lane situation. The exit onto Ted Williams is almost on a blind curve. And the exits onto Pomerado run into stoplights almost immediately. The exits are already unsafe and any potential increase due to food delivery traffic will only exacerbate the issues. I support the proposed improvements, and I could support an Amazon entity in Poway. I want to make sure the City puts the necessary conditions in place at the appropriate time to have the tenant provide all the parking lot and traffic upgrades necessary to ensure safe conditions around the plaza.
