MWelch I am an asthma specialist and have been caring for people with asthma and allergies for almost 40 years. I can strongly state the ban on indoor smoking done some years ago, was a tremendous boost to the safety and wellbeing of people affected by asthma and allergies. I hear this from my patients all the time. But these same patients report that exposure to tobacco and vaping products, even in a outdoor setting such as with dining, can be a trigger for their breathing problem. Now that dining has significantly moved outdoors due to COVID, it is a wonderful time and opportunity to continue to protect those with respiratory problems, and for that matter, all of Poway residents from 2nd hand smoke, by implementing an outdoor smoking ban at restaurants. Please consider this when making policy and establishing health regulations for the restaurants of Poway as it relates to the outdoor dining experience. Michael J.
