MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 19, 2007
The September 19, 2007, Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by, Chairperson Simon at the Poway City Council Chambers
Observation Room, 13325 Civic Center Drive, Poway, California for a Regular Parks and
Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT
Roger Covalt, Mike Fry, Ann Laux, Lori Simon, Neil Tarzy
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT
Robert A. Clark, Director of Community Services
Sara Francella, Senior Administrative Assistant
INTRODUCTIONS
Director Clark introduced Kevin Haupt as the new Director of Public Works.
PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Member Covalt and seconded by Member Fry to approve the minutes of the
July 18, 2007 meeting. Motion carried 4 -0 (Member Tarzy abstained as he was absent
from the meeting).
2. INFORMATIONAL REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS CONCERNING PARKS
Director Haupt provided an update on the grant funds for renovation of Adobe Ridge
Minipark and Silverset Park. Director Haupt invited the committee to attend the Park
Workshops on Tuesday, September 25 at the parks: Adobe Ridge Minipark, 4:30 p.m.
and Silverset Park, 6 p.m. Director Haupt mentioned that the architect will be present to
discuss the designs with the neighbors at each park site. ;
The committee received the report.
4. INFORMATIONAL REPORT ON COMMUNITY SERVICES ACTIVITIES
Director Clark provided an update on the projects in Old Poway, including the train depot
design and construction and the improvements to the farmers market parking lot .
Director Clark distributed and reviewed the Poway Sports Association Handbook.
Director Clark noted that the Kelley Clark had worked with the PSA organizations to
come to consensus and approve unanimously the contents of the handbook.
The committee received the report.

6. CHAIR AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS — INITIATED ITEMS
Chair Simon asked if trees might be added around the new the playground at Aubrey Park and
perhaps have a park bench installed. Director Clark will refer Chair Simon's request to Public
Works.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Simon adjourned the meeting at 8:19 p.m. to Tuesday, September 25 at Adobe
Ridge Minipark at 4:30 p.m. and then at Silverset Park at 6:00 p.m.
