SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Library Landscape Conversion Project; Bid
No. 16-015
Summary:
On April 19, 2016, the City Council awarded the contract for the Library Landscape
Conversion Project; Bid No. 16-015, to Urban Corps of San Diego County in the amount
of$82,032.00. This action will accept the project as complete.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the City Council:
(1) Accept the Library Landscape Conversion Project as complete;
(2) Authorize the City Clerk to file and record the Notice of Completion;
(3) Authorize the release of the retention in the amount of $4,254.75, if
unencumbered, 45 days after City Council acceptance;
(4) Release the Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company Bond for Material
and Labor in the amount of$82,032.00, after the release of retention; and
(5) Retain the Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company Bond for Faithful
Performance for a period of one year.
Discussion:
This project replaced existing grass with drought tolerant landscaping at the City of
Poway Library.
There was one Change Order in the amount of $3,062.90 which included moving an
existing concrete drainage box that was directly in the way of the proposed D.G.
pathway. The City also decided to install purple colored pipe in case the library is
converted to recycled water in the future. The final contract amount is $85,094.90.
Environmental Review:
The matter of acceptance of public improvements that have been completed, which
were the subject of a prior environmental determination, is not subject to the California
Environmental Quality Act.
Fiscal Impact:
Sufficient funds are available in the Library Landscape Conversion Project account
(1167C) for the release of retention.
