SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Structural Steel Portion of the City Office Building Project
(#1539)
ABSTRACT
On November 12, 2002, the City Council awarded the Structural Steel Portion of the City Office
Building Project, located at 13325 Civic Center Drive in the City of Poway to Artimex Iron Company,
Inc. in the amount of$936,500.00. Due to change orders and quantity adjustments, the final contract
amount was $945,651.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA, as a Class 32 Categorically Exemption, pursuant
to the CEQA guidelines.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are sufficient funds in the project budget (1539) for this action.
ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
Artimex Iron Company, Inc., 315 Cypress Lane, EI Cajon, CA 92020-1695
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council: (1) Formally accept the Structural Steel Portion of the City
Office Building Project(#1539); (2)Authorize the City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion; and (3)
Authorize the release of retention for the amount of$94,565.10, if unencumbered, 40 days after filing
the Notice of Completion.

BACKGROUND
On November 12, 2002, the City Council awarded the contract for the structural steel
portion of the City Office Building project located at 13325 Civic Center Drive in the City of
Poway to Artimex Iron Company, Inc., in the amount of $936,500.00.
FINDINGS
Due to change orders and quantity adjustments, the final contract amount was
$945,651.00. Staff finds the project to be complete in accordance with the standards and
specifications of the contract. It is recommended that the City Council approve acceptance
of the project.
