SUBJECT: Approval of Change Order No. 01 to Extend the Duration of the Demolition of
Residential and Other Miscellaneous Structures and Hazardous Materials
Abatement As-Needed Services Contract to June 30, 2006
ABSTRACT
The City Council awarded the contract for Demolition of Residential and Other Miscellaneous
Structures and Hazardous Materials Abatement As-Needed Services to Clauss Construction in June,
2003. The unit price contract was limited to $1,000,000, or two years time. This contract is
scheduled to expire on June 30, 2005.
Change Order No. 01 will extend the term of the contract for one year to June 30, 2006. The original
contract amount of $1,000,000 is not being increased and to date has not been expended.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This item is not subject to CEQA review.
FISCAL IMPACT
Additional funding is not required.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council/Redevelopment Agency approve Change Order No. 01 to

Hazardous Materials Abatement As-Needed Services to June 30, 2006.

BACKGROUND
The City Council awarded the contract for Demolition of Residential and Other Miscellaneous Structures
and Hazardous Materials Abatement As-Needed Services to Clauss Construction in June 2003. The unit
price contract was limited to $1,000,000 or two years time. This contract is scheduled to expire on June
30, 2005.
FINDINGS
Since June 30, 2003, six task orders totaling $495,862.31 were completed. Staff anticipates additional
demolition activities will be required for another year. Patrick Clauss, President, of Clauss Construction is
willing to extend the contract for an additional year without an increase in line item pricing.
Change Order No. 01 will extend the term of the contract for one year to June 30, 2006. The original
