SUBJECT: Award of Uniform Rental and Cleaning Services Contract
ABSTRACT
The Public Works Department mailed a Request for Proposal (RFP)to six uniform rental and cleaning
vendors in San Diego. The scope of work includes delivery, pick-up, cleaning, and maintenance of
rental uniforms for City employees, and floor mats and towels for City facilities as required by the City
of Poway. Two proposals were received. Following an analysis of the proposals, Aramark Uniform
Services submitted the proposal most beneficial to the City in terms of overall cost and flexibility with
laundering and non-laundering uniform rentals. The length of the contract is one (1) year, with the
o tion of four 4 additional one- ear eriods.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This action is not subject to CEQA review.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds are available in Account 0409-4304 and various departments' operating
budget account 4928 to award this contract.
ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
A copy of this report was mailed to Aramark Uniform Services.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award the uniform rental and cleaning services contract to
Aramark Uniform Services in the not-to-exceed amount of$40,000 for the first contract year; and
authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

SUBJECT: Award of Uniform Rental and Cleaning Services Contract
BACKGROUND
The City of Poway currently utilizes contract services for uniform rental for 80-85 employees
and uniform cleaning services for approximately 57 employees. The uniform rental and
cleaning service contractor also provides shop towels to the three fire stations, and floor mats
for all City office buildings and recreation centers.
The Public Works Department mailed a Request for Proposal (RFP)to six uniform rental and
cleaning vendors in San Diego. The scope of work includes delivery, pick-up, cleaning,
and maintenance of rental uniforms for City employees, and floor mats and towels for facilities
as required by the City of Poway. Two proposals were received.
FINDINGS
Proposals were received from Aramark Uniform Services and AmeriPride Uniform Services.
Both vendors are qualified to perform the uniform rental and cleaning services. Aramark
Uniform Services submitted the proposal most beneficial to the City in terms of competitive
pricing and flexibility with laundering and non-laundering uniform rentals.
Aramark Uniform Services is a uniform service company that operates throughout San Diego
County and offers dependable and prompt service. Aramark Uniform Services has held the
uniform services contract for the City during the past five years and provided the City with
quality and reliable service. The length of the contract is one (1) year, with the option to
extend for four (4) additional one-year periods.

The cost to provide uniform rental and cleaning services will not exceed $40,000 for this
contract year.
