SUBJECT: Award of Bid for the Pomerado Road Sound Wall Project (#1290) Bid No. 05-016
ABSTRACT
The Pomerado Road Sound Wall Project has two locations. The primary location, which is covered
by the Base Bid Schedule, is located in the City of Poway on Pomerado Road, from 200 feet north of
Kaitz Street to 200 feet south of Monte Vista Road. The second location is on the west side of
Pomerado Road, south of Holland Road and encompasses four properties left from the previous
Pomerado Road reconstruction project. Two of the property owners have signed the needed
easement documents and the last two have just indicated to us an interest in doing so. Staff will
continue those discussions with the expectation that all four lots will be done. This will make this wall
continuous for the entire length. These properties have been included in the current project as four
Additive Bid Altemates. The contract time for this project is 90 working days. The engineer's estimate
forthis ro'ect is $1,750,000 to $1,810,000 forthe Base Bid onl .
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This item is not subject to CEQA review.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds were appropriated with the fiscal year 2004-05 year-end adjustments to award the
contract.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award the Pomerado Road Sound Wall Project (#1290) to
West Coast General Corporation, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of$1,891,763.00 for
the Base Bid and $389,932.00 for the four Additive Bid Alternates for a total award amount of
$2,281,695.00.
