SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Poway Library, Sheriffs Station, and Bus Shelter
Project (#5514, #1523, and #1225)
ABSTRACT:
Upon final inspection of the project, staff finds the project to be complete in accordance with the
standards and specifications of the contract. It is recommended that the City Councill
Redevelopment Agency approve acceptance of the project.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is sufficient funding in the project accounts to accommodate changes in final total.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This item is not subject to CEQA review.
ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
None.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City CouncillRedevelopment Agency: 1) formally accept the Poway
Library, Sheriffs Station, and Bus Shelter project; 2) authorize the City Clerk to file and record a
Notice of Completion; and 3) authorize the release of the retention for the amount of $265,705.85,
if unencumbered, 40 days after filing the Notice of Completion.

SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Poway Library, Sheriffs Station, and
Bus Shelter Project (#5514, #1523, and #1225)
BACKGROUND
On April 1, 1997, the City Council/Redevelopment Agency awarded the contract for the
Poway Library, Sheriffs Station, and Bus Shelter project (located at the southwest
corner of Bowron and Poway Roads) to Kvaas Construction Company, Inc. The
amount of the contract was $4,754,000.00.
FINDINGS
Due to 32 change orders, a total of $560,117.00 was added to the project. (Library =
$466,360.00; Sheriffs Station = $53,776.00; Transit Shelter = $39,981.00. Of the
Library's change orders, $199,924.00 were to add street improvements on Poway and
Bowron Roads.)
