The contract time for the project is 30 working days. FISCAL IMPACT There are sufficient funds to complete the project. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW This project is categorically exempt under Section 15301 of the CEQA. ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE Asphalt Inc. and Manhole Adjusting, Inc. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council award the 96-97 Slurry/Cape Seal Program contract to Asphalt Inc. in the amount of $723,562.67. Hefner, Associate Civil Engineer J~ June 18, 1996 Award of Bid for the 96-97 Slurry/Cape Seal Program (407-4320) On May 29, 1996, bids were opened for the 96-97 Slurry/Cape Seal Program. A Call-Back provision was included as an Additive Bid Alternate. However, staff had concerns over the specification issues expressed by the Contractors over the Additive Bid Alternate. Consequently, staff recommends awarding the contract on the Base Bid alone. The Engineer's Estimate for the Base Bid alone was $800,000 to $B25,000. With the Additive Bid Alternate included, the Engineer's Estimate was $1,100,000 for $1,150,000. The contract time for this project is 30 working days. FINDINGS The following three (3) bids were received: ComDanv I. Asphalt Inc. 2. Manhole Adjusting, Inc. 3. Western States Surfacing, Inc.
