We are asking for poway's help in securing the passage of AB 4a7
(T.Friedman). This bill will be heard by the Senate Transportation
Committee on Tuesday, March 1st. Senator Dave Kelley is on that
committee.
If aRproved, AB 487 would allow for the placement of LOGO signs for
- traveler-related businesses along the 101 Freeway through Agoura
Hills. C

AB487 will establish a five-year
demonstration program in the City of
Agoura Hills allowing freeway logo
signs along Highway 101. These
pro-business signs, displaying the
corporate logos of traveler-related
local businesses, would advise .~--
motorists of fuel, food and lodging . :-...-. -
services available to them at the next
freeway exit.
. Increased Highway Safety
Located well in advance of the freeway exits, these signs allow motorists ample
time to make an early and safe lane change to the offramp.
. Credit Card "Friendly"
Current generic "gas/food/lodging" signs do not offer motorists the same notice of
the specific businesses located ahead.
. Revenue Enhancing for Business and City
By promoting local businesses in times when they are most in need, as their
revenues are protected, so are the sales and other taxes they bring to the city and its
residents.
. Revenue Producing for CalTrans
A user fee of not less than 25 % of the cost to place and maintain these signs goes
to CalTrans, for safety roadside rest purposes.
. Progressive
These signs are in wide use across the country, from the Pacific Northwest to the
East Coast, and help connect travelers with local services.
. Better Sign age Visibility to Motorists
Particularly for businesses with impaired visibility because of topography or
development, logo signs in the freeway right-of-way are an exceptional advertising
opportunity for freeway dependent businesses.
