SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Directional Sign Replacement on Scripps
Poway Parkway, RFB 14 -012
Summary:
A notice inviting bids for Directional Sign Replacement on Scripps Poway Parkway was
duly advertised on February 13 and 20, 2014. Two bids were received and opened on
February 25, 2014. Staff reviewed the bids and determined the lowest responsive
bidder to be AToM Engineering Construction, Inc.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the City Council award the bid for Directional Sign Replacement
on Scripps Poway Parkway, RFB 14 -012 to AToM Engineering Construction, Inc. and
authorize the Interim City Manager to execute the necessary documents.
Background:
One of the City of Poway's medium -sized directional signs was destroyed in an accident
and requires replacement. The project is located on Scripps Poway Parkway, east of
Community Road, west of Tech Center Drive and located westbound on the median.
This project is to build and replace the custom made directional sign, including
fabrication and installation of monument and pole mounted "way- finding" signs, at the
specified location. The current concrete pad must be demolished and a new pad poured
with the sign installed in the center median.
Findings:
Both bidders were found to be fully responsive to the requirements of the Request for
Bids. A summary of the bids is provided in the table below.

Fiscal Impact:
Sufficient funds are appropriated in the budget (0411 -4514) for award of this contract.
Once the work is complete and the actual replacement cost is known, the City will
pursue full reimbursement from the party involved in the accident (and /or the party's
insurer).
Environmental Review:
This action is not subject to CEQA review.
Public Notification:
A copy of this report has been sent to AToM Engineering Construction, Inc.
