SUBJECT: Acceptance of the Reservoir Safety Modifications Project;
Bid No. 14 -005
Summary:
The Reservoir Safety Modifications Project consists of furnishing all labor, material, and
equipment to install fall restraint cable systems for the City's 20 reservoirs.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the City Council:
(1) Accept the Reservoir Safety Modifications Project as complete;
(2) Authorize the City Clerk to file and record the Notice of Completion;
(3) Authorize the release of the retention in the amount of $3,609.34, if
unencumbered, 45 days after City Council acceptance;
(4) Release the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company Bond for Material and
Labor in the amount of $70,398.00, after the release of retention; and
(5) Retain the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company Bond for Faithful
Performance for a period of one year.
Background:
On November 19, 2013, the City Council awarded the contract for the Reservoir Safety
Modifications Project; Bid No. 14 -005, to ATOM Engineering Construction, Inc., in the
amount of $70,398.00.
Findings:
Due to one Change Order, the contract was increased by a net amount of $1,788.76.
The Change Order added extensions to the fall restraint cables at three of the reservoirs
where the landing handrail did not extend to a point 42" from the edge of the reservoir.
The final contract amount is $72,186.76. Staff finds the project to be complete in
accordance with the standards and specifications of the contract.
Fiscal Impact:
Sufficient funds are available in the project account ( #1762) for the release of the
retention.
