Mr. Crosby,
I see the city council will be holding another hearing on the need to install a three way stop at the
intersection of Martincoit and Stone Canyon on April 1, 2014. 1 do not support such a move. I attended
the last public hearing at council and saw few in support of the idea and now hopefully the new study
supports not placing stop signs at the intersection.
I drive that intersection at least 4 times a day five day per week the past 8 years and never ever seen
anything close to an accident. I commute in the morning between 7:45 and 8:30 and go home for lunch
between 12 noon and 2 p.m. and then come home at night 5 to 6 p.m. I also travel the road every
weekend from my home at 13529 Orchard Gate Road. This probably amounts to more than 9,000 to
10,000 tips over the years I have live here.
If the signs are placed, be aware that traffic coming down the hill out of our neighborhood will be
coming to a stop around a corner and should there be a line of cars (2 or more cars) it surely will be a
perfect setup for an accident. Also any vehicles coming up Martincoit will be forced to stop on a steep
grade which again will result in the possibility of accidents, traffic delays, skidding tires and blocking of
driveways. But I am sure your studies confirm this.
In short, the intersection works fine as it is. If you are wanting to place some signs, maybe we just need
a sign that asks not to block driveways for those heading up Stone Canyon towards Martincoit to help
our neighbors who have driveways entering near the intersection.
