Report Re9arding Espola Road Truck Route
ABSTRACT
The staff has been asked to prepare a report for the possibility of eliminating
Espola Road (north of Twin Peaks to west City limits) as a truck route. The
report will cost $10,000 - $15,000 to prepare.
BACKGROUND
- On May 23, 1989, the City Council directed the staff to prepare a report for
eliminating Espola Road (north of T'!lin Peaks to Vlest City limits) as a truck
rou te.
FINDINGS
To prepare a comprehensive report, the following steps would be required:
A. Data collection, which includes traffic count, percentage and
type of trucks (by utilizing video tapes), site condition and
structural section of roadway.
B. Analysis of the collected data including reviewing of the
existing California Vehicle Codes and availability of
alternate truck routes.
The cost of the study for data collection and analysis is estimated to be
$10,000 - $15,000.

FISCAL IMPACT
$15,000 for preparation of the study. The report will identify any future
impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that if the City Council would like to proceed with such a
study, that the following actions be taken:
1. Appropriate $7,500 from the General Fund Unappropriated Reserves
and $7,500 from Redevelopment Funds. '
2. Direct staff to proceed with the collection and analysis of the
data necessary for the report.
