Rapid is an exciting new transit service that
provides high frequency, limited-stop trips, all day,
seven days a week

Bus Rapid Transit
•Rapid Route 235 is the first of several Bus Rapid
Transit (BRT) services to be implemented in the
San Diego region.
•Partnership between MTS, Caltrans, and SANDAG
•BRT is becoming increasingly popular in urban
communities because it offers many of the features
offered by rail-based transit

Frequency
•Rapid 235 - During peak-hour commutes,
service will be every 15 minutes. During off-peak
hours and on weekends, service will be every 30
minutes
•Rapid Express 280 and 290 are weekday, peak-
hour services with 10 trips south in the morning and
11 trips north in the evening, leaving every 15 to 30
minutes.

Travel Times
•Riding Rapid is much faster than current all-day
services along the corridor.
•Before Rapid, riding from Escondido to Downtown
required a transfer and frequent stops off the
freeway.
•Riders can expect time savings of up to one hour
