Award of Bid for Repair of Two Midland Road Bus Shelters,
RFB 15 -004
A notice inviting bids for Repair of Two Midland Road Bus Shelters was duly advertised
on August 28 and September 4, 2014. Four companies attended a pre -bid meeting and
site visit on September 8, 2014, and three bids were received and opened on
September 18, 2014. Staff reviewed the bids and determined the lowest responsive
bidder to be TA Jones Concrete Construction.
Recommended Action:
It is recommended that the City Council award the bid for Repair of Two Midland Road
Bus Shelters, RFB 15 -004, to TA Jones Concrete Construction, and authorize the City
Manager to execute the necessary documents.
Background:
This project is to provide overall repair including replacement of damaged structural
timbers at two MTS bus stop shelters. One shelter is located on the east side of Midland
Road north of Poinsettia Drive and the other on the west side of Midland Road south of
Janette Lane. The project includes, but is not limited to, the removal and replacement of
eight (8) damaged 8 -inch x 8 -inch Douglas Fir posts and decorative wood column bases
and trims, and concrete surface remnants of Simpson CB88's post bases.
Findings:
Three bids were received and opened on September 18, 2014 with TA Jones Concrete
Construction submitting the lowest responsive bid.
Bid results are as follows:

Fiscal Impact:
There are sufficient funds budgeted in the project account (1242A) for award of the
contract.
Environmental Review:
This action is not subject to CEQA review.
Public Notification:
A copy of this report has been sent to TA Jones Concrete Construction.
