SUBJECT: Acceptance of the FY 12/13 Reline /Replace Sewer Pipelines Project; (CIP #1829); Bid No. 14 -010 Summary: On March 18, 2014, the City Council awarded the contract for the FY 12/13 Reline /Replace Sewer Pipelines Project, Bid No. 14 -010, to Southwest Pipeline & Trenchless Corp., the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $204,881.00. Staff finds the project to be complete in accordance with the standards and specifications of the contract. This action will accept the project as complete. Recommended Action: It is recommended that the City Council: (1) Accept the FY 12/13 Reline /Replace Sewer Pipelines Project as complete; (2) Authorize the City Clerk to file and record the Notice of Completion; (3) Authorize the release of the retention in the amount of $11,744.80, if unencumbered, 45 days after City Council acceptance; (4) Release the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company Bond for Material and Labor in the amount of $204,881.00, after the release of retention; and (5) Retain the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company Bond for Faithful Performance for a period of one year. Background: This project included the installation of one new manhole, two new end -of -line sewer cleanouts, a two -foot extension of an existing sewer main, and approximately 130 linear feet of open trench spot repairs. These improvements were located on Tierra Bonita Road at Twin Peaks Road, Olive Tree Lane, and Allbrook Drive. The project also included approximately 2,851 linear feet of sewer main lining with top hat lateral connections on Allbrook Drive, Francine Terrace, Boca Raton Lane, Olive Tree Lane, and Tierra Bonita Road. 1 of 2 October 21, 2014 Item # • 0 Acceptance of the FY 12/13 Reline /Replace Sewer Pipelines October 21, 2014 Page 2 Findings: Due to one change order, the contract was increased by a net amount of $30,015.00. A favorable bid allowed the ability to add two sewer main linings along with top hat lateral connections. The change order also modified some of the bid quantities in order to reflect the actual quantities constructed. The final contract amount is $234,896.00. Staff finds the project to be complete in accordance with the standards and specifications of the contract. Fiscal Impact: Sufficient funds are available in the project account ( #1829) for the release of the FY 12/13 Reline /Replace Sewer Pipelines retention.
