A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING THE PROPOSED REGIONAL WILDLIFE CORRIDOR MONITORING
PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS
THROUGH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME NCCP PROGRAM
FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT
WHEREAS, certain local grant funds are available annually on a
competitive basis through the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) Natural
Community Conservation Planning (NCCP) program budget for urgent implementation
tasks; and
WHEREAS, if authorized by CDFG and the City Council, such grant funds can be
utilized to implement th ~jectives and req :the Poway Subarea
Habitat Conservation Plan (Poway HCP); and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to implement the Poway HCP, in part, through
the monitoring of wildlife corridors located within Poway and the subregional Multiple
Species C Plan (MSCP) preserve, where such corridors have been identified
as critical to regional wildlif l; and
WHEREAS, on February 4, 2000, the City of Poway received approval of a $75,000
grant under the CDFG local program for the implementation of the proposed
Regional Wildlife Corridor Monitoring Project; and
WHEREAS, the proposed monitoring project is consistent with the conservation
objectives and requirements of the Poway HCP and the subregional MSCP Biological
Monitoring Plan, and is also a joint effort of the cities of Poway and San Diego; and
WHEREAS, the proposed monitoring project will establish baseline data for future
monitoring and management efforts. The C Biology Institute (CBI), a non-profit
or~ :h expertise in preserve design, management, and monitoring, will work with
the cities of Poway and San Diego to direct the study; and
WHEREAS, approval of the proposed Regional Wildlife Corridor Monitoring Project
and acceptance of the subject grant funds for this project must be authorized by resolution
of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council's action to adopt this resolution is covered by the
General Rule of the California E Quality Act (CEQA) and is not subject to
review pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to G I Code Section 66020(d)(1), NOTICE IS
FURTHER GIVEN that the 90-day period to protest the imposition of any fee, dedication,
or otb described in this resolution begins on the effective date of
this resolution and any such protest must b that complies with Section 66020.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Poway
hereby approves the proposed Regional Wildlife Corridor Monitoring Project and authorizes
the acceptance of the $75,000 local grant from the California Department of
Fish and Game for the implementation of the subject project.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
