Off-Docket - Midland RD Widening #18tGENDA REPORT
CITY OF POWAY
TO: Honorable Chairman & Director of the
Poway Redevelopment Agency
FROM: James L. Bowersox, Executive Dire
INITIATED BY: Alan D. Archibald, Director of Public Services
J. Bradley Kutzner, Senior Civil Engineer)'
DATE: November 12, 1986
SUBJECT: PROPOSED CHANGE ORDER FOR MIDLAND ROAD
WIDENING
BACKGROUND
The Midland Road project will install sidewalks on both sides
of the road for the entire length of the project. The
ultimate width of the road was not attainable without
major drainage work beyond the scope of this budget.
The project was designed with asphalt berms and asphalt
sidewalks on the west side of the road from Aubrey Street
to the bridge. It appears that the drainage improvements
needed for the full width widening of the road will not
be forthcoming for five to ten years, at least. With
this time frame in mind, staff has requested a price
from the contractor to install concrete curbs and sidwalks
on the west side of Midland Road for the entire length
of the project.
FINDINGS•
The cost of installing concrete curb, gutter and sidewalks
from Aubrey Street to the Rattlesnake Creek bridge would
be an additional $14,551.20. The deletion of the asphalt
berms and sidewalk originally in the contract would be
$4456.73, for a net Change Order of $10,094.47.
ACTION: Approved staff recommendation.
