STAFF REPORTS
Declaration of Stage 1 Water Condition per Poway Municipal Code Chapter 8,94 —
Water Conservation Plan (0930 -10)
Kristen Crane, Water, Conservation Administrator, presented the report. Poway's Water
Conservation Plan identifies seven water conservation stages Based on the water
supply situation facing Poway and the San Diego region, including the current
historically dry period for Southern California and the Colorado River Basin, and a
recent federal court ruling that will greatly restrict pumping of water from Northern
California and the Sacramento River Delta, staff recommended that the City Council
declare a Stage 1 water condition for Poway, urging all residential and business
customers use water wisely No mandatory reduction target is associated with this
stage
Val Derkach, Poway, spoke on water wasted at an affordable housing complex's
swimming pool in the 1990's
