MINUTES OF THE BUDGET REVIEW COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
May 21, 2012
The May 21, 2012, Regular Meeting of the Budget Review Committee was called to
order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairperson Steve Vaus at the Poway City Council Chambers
Observation Room, 13325 Civic Center Drive, Poway, California.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS
1. Proposed FY 2012/13 operating budgets, including departments:
Development Services
Public Works
Safety Services
The Committee continued their review of department operating budgets. Peter
Moote distributed copies of responses to Committee inquiries from the May 14,
2012 meeting. The Committee received the report, discussed the responses, and
continued their discussion of proposed department operating budgets.

Staff responded to member inquiries regarding the revenue and expenditure detail
schedules for the remaining department operating budgets; Development Services,
Public Works, and Safety Services.
John French provided an overview of the FY 2012-13 Proposed budget schedules
for fund activity and balances, including the new schedule for Redevelopment
Agency loan repayments. Staff responded to member inquiries regarding the fund
activity schedules.
2. Provide Direction on Preparation of the Committee’s Report to Council
Chairperson Steve Vaus led a discussion regarding the content and potential
emphasis of the Committee’s report of recommendations for FY 2012-13.
Following member discussion, the Committee directed staff to calendar an
additional meeting of the Committee for 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
The Committee continued discussion of the Committee’s report of
recommendations to the May 29, 2012 meeting.
