Res 04-035 RESOLUTION NO. 04 - 035 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN WHEREAS, the San Diego region has experienced natural, technological, and human-caused disasters on many occasions in the past 50 years, resulting in property loss, loss of life, economic hardship, and threats to public health and safety; and WHEREAS, the majority of San Diego County's 2.9 million residents live in areas subject to these disasters; and WHEREAS, a Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (the Plan) has been developed after more than one year of research and work by the County of San Diego and all eighteen (18) cities in the County including the City of Poway; and WHEREAS, the Plan recommends hazard mitigation actions that can be designed and implemented to promote the continued protection of people and property affected by the natural and man made hazards that face San Diego County; and WHEREAS, public meetings were held throughoutthe County to review the Plan as required by law; and WHEREAS, mitigation measures have been shown to be effective in saving lives and reducing property damage caused by disasters. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway as follows: Section 1. The Plan, a copy of which is on record at the City Clerk's Office of the City of Poway, is hereby adopted as an official plan of the City of Poway, Section 2. The recommended actions in the City of Poway's section of the Plan will receive priority consideration for implementation dependent upon factors such as funding and resource availability, PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway, California, at a regular meeting this 11th day of May, 2004.
