A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
CAR ALLOWANCE FOR THE MAYOR
WHEREAS, the City may, from time to time, amend the benefits of elected officials;
WHEREAS, City Councilmembers and the Mayor currently receive a car allowance of $300
per month;
WHEREAS, the Mayor is required to attend extra events and has additional time
commitments in the elected position;
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 16-005 approved a methodology and guidelinesfor providing the
Mayor with a 40% differential in salary above the City Councilmembers due to the extra time
commitments and events attended by the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by applying the same methodology of a 40% differential to the
monthly car allowance for the Mayor, deems the Mayor's car allowance be set at $420, which is 40%
above the current $300 car allowance for City Councilmembers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway as follows:
Section 1: The City Council hereby approves an increase to the car allowance for the
Mayor from $300 per month to $420 per month beginning January 1, 2019.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway, California,
at a regular meeting this 19th day of June 2018.
