A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
POWAY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A REORGANIZATION OF
STAFFING IN THE ENGINEERING DIVISION OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, ADOPTING
THE UPDATED POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN,
APPROVING THE MANAGEMENT/CONFIDENTIAL SALARY
SCHEDULE, AND AUTHORIZING THE ASSOCIATED
APPROPRIATIONS TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2018-19 BUDGET
WHEREAS, a recent vacancy in the City Engineer position in the Department of
Development Services created a responsibility and opportunity to conduct a review of the current
structure in the Engineering Division of the Department of Development Services, with a specific
focus on the Capital Projects section;
WHEREAS, based on the review, a reorganization is needed to accomplish City Council
approved priority projects in the Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must approve new positions added to the City's Classification
Plan by Resolution and the Salary Schedule with pay ranges for all positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Poway that the
following personnel changes are approved, the associated appropriations are authorized, and the
City's Position Classification Plan and Salary Schedule are approved with the following changes
reflected:
Change the Limited Term Associate Civil Engineer position to a Regular Full -Time
Equivalent (FTE) Associate Civil Engineer position effective December 5, 2018;
Add 1.0 FTE Associate Civil Engineer position effective December 5, 2018 and funded
January 1, 2019; and
Add 1.0 Limited Term Full -Time Equivalent (FTE) Construction Project Manager position in
Group 2A of the Management/Confidential Employee Group with a salary range of 78.5
($8,778 - $10,670 monthly) and related Group 2A benefits effective December 5, 2018 and
funded January 1, 2019.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway, California,
at a regular meeting this 4th day of December 2018.
