A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING COMPREHENSIVE SIGN PROGRAM 04-05
ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NUMBER 317-270-12
WHEREAS, Comprehensive Sign Program (CSP) 04-05, submitted by Pomerado
Leasing No.2, L.P., Applicant, requests the approval of a Comprehensive Sign Program
for an industrial building, located at 12131 Community Road, within the Planned
Community zone; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2005, the City Council considered the above-referenced
item.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway, as follows:
Section 1: This proposed project is Categorically Exempt (Class 11) from the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to Section 15311 of the CEQA
Guidelines, in that it is for the placement of minor structures accessory to (appurtenant
to) existing facilities.
Section 2: The proposed use is in accordance with the purposes and standards
contained in the Poway Municipal Code and the South Poway Specific Plan.
Section 3: The City Council hereby approves Comprehensive Sign Program 04-05,
subject to the following conditions:
A. Within 30 days of approval, the applicant shall submit in writing that all conditions
of approval have been read and understood.
B. All signs shall conform to the sign criteria and design guidelines contained within
the South Poway Specific Plan Development Standards and the general
provisions of the Comprehensive Sign Ordinance of the Poway Municipal Code,
as amended from time to time.
C. The following design standards shall apply to all tenants within the industrial
building:
1. The same background color will be used on all signs in that proposed wall
signs will be mounted directly on the non-illuminated raceway, painted to
match the building, for Sign Type A. Sign Type B signs will be mounted
directly to the building or to an oversized panel, painted to match the
building, and will have 1" returns.

2. In addition to white, lettering on wall signage may have the following
colors: Blue, Black or Red. Tenants that are part of a chain of stores with
a nationally recognized sign design may utilize colors other than the
approved colors.
3. Proposed wall signs will be constructed of either non-illuminated,
individual cut out letters or illuminated channel letters for lessees, which
lease more than 20,000 square feet. These signs are compatible in
appearance.
4. Comprehensive Sign Program 04-05 will allow the use of non-illuminated
signs. Lessees, which lease more than 20,000 square feet, are allowed
illuminated channel letters with oversized raceways, painted to match the
building.
5. Comprehensive Sign Program 04-05 will allow the use of different colors
for tenant logos, upon the approval of the Director of Development
Services through the individual Sign Permit process.
6. The maximum number of non-illuminated wall signs allowed for anyone
business shall be one per street or parking area frontage and the
maximum number of illuminated wall signs allowed for anyone business
shall be one per street or parking area frontage, not to exceed two.
D. Approval of this request shall not waive compliance with Chapter 17.40 of the
Zoning Code and all other applicable City Ordinances in effect at the time of Sign
Permit issuance.
E. Prior to installing a sign, the applicant shall obtain a Sign Permit from the
Planning Division and any necessary Building Division permits.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
State of California, at a regular meeting this 1 st day of March 2005.
