RESOLUTION NO. 05-017
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALlFORNINA
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE
COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO'S COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE
KUMEYAAY-IPAIINTERPRETIVE CENTER AT PAUWAI
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego has announced the availability of
Community Enhancement funding for fiscal year 2005-06; and
WHEREAS, the funds are intended to encourage activities that promote and
generate tourism and/or economic development within San Diego County; and
WHEREAS, the Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center at Pauwai (KIIC) is a cultural
resource rich is archaeological significance and is of benefit to the entire County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway and the Friends of the Kumeyaay provide
educational programs at the KIIC that would be enhanced with such funding; and
WHEREAS, the KIIC attracts visitors and promotes tourism due to its unique
attributes, and there is a plan to construct a classroom, museum, parking area, gardens,
and enhanced cultural programming; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway is a legally constituted governmental entity under
the laws of the State of California and is in complete control of its affairs through its
officers.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Poway hereby authorizes the submittal of an application to the County of San Diego for
the Community Enhancement Program funding for fiscal year 2005-2006.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
at a regular meeting this 22nd day of March 2005.
