SUBJECTS Evaluation of Code Enforcement Vehicle Bid
The Departments of Safety and Planning Services
have evaluated
the Ford Escort wagoiz as the apparent low bid vehicle for the:
above listed purchase. We find the Ford. Escort wagon,, while 900
' per unit cheaper! does not meet specifications or our operational-
needs. - We therefore recommend the- purchase: be
awarded to: the
next lowest bidder Lou Grubb- Chevrolet for two `
Cavalier JC -3.5'
wagons. otherwise the project should be - rebid as
the Escort will
not meet our operational needs. •
.
The following is a comparison of the. Escort and Cavalier
capabilities listed in order of' their operational
prioritites.

Conclusion. The Ford Escort:
wagon is not.
equivalent ,to -a
Cavalier JC35 wagon as specified..
The Escort
is smaller lighter
and has. severe operational
limitations for cargo passengers and
City radio equipment. The -purchase
of a. Ford
Escort wagon would
not meet the stated needs of the Department officers in question.
