Subject: DONATION TO THE CITY
BACKGROUND
The Poway News Chieftain has solicited $285 from the business
community and service organizations for the Department of Safety
Servicers Fire Prevention Bureau.. This was done through: the sale of
advertising. The Chieftain has designated this donation for the
purchase of "Learn Not To Burn" teacher guides for a pilot program,the
fire department is conducting at Garden Road Elementary School..
FINDINGS
This donation, combined with. Fire Prevention Community Relations_
Funds, will enable the sixteen teacher guides to be purchased. The
pilot. program will provide increased fire prevention education to the
children of Garden Road: Elementary School.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the. appropriation of
$285 from the donation fund (81--7651) to the Department of Safety
Services Fire Prevention, Community Relations Account 1-502-314 to be
expended in accordance with the purpose specified.
