I am a concerned citizen and have been paying the additional sales tax that was only passed because the voting public was told that it would be used on our roads and freeways. Now, SANDAG wants to divert those funds to a transit system that will not work for many of the constituents who are paying the additional tax money that is at issue. What has happened to this San Diego! pass the trolley leaving Santee during the morning commute and I can tell you there is rarely anyone on it. This distance and therefore the time needed to get from Santee to most of the areas served by the trolley makes this a difficult endeavor if one is interested in getting to work on time each day. am very concerned about the environment and greenhouse gases; I selected a vehicle that minimizes the impact on both. However, I am fiercely opposed to all three of the matters currently under discussion. I applaud you for opposing these measures and want to encourage you to continue to vote NO on the raids on our road repair funds and to oppose the unfair Transit Sales Tax hike and Congestion Pricing Fee. I appreciate your efforts in this fight. ,4w -r4 S&Awtt 6490 Lake Shore Dr San Diego CA 92071 619-303-1147 Home 619-922-5315 Cell 1 of 7 May 21, 2019, Item # 4.1 From: Barry Leonard To: Bernie Guzman Subject: Re: council agenda item# 4.1 - SANDAG and TransNet plan change Date: Monday, May 20, 2019 6:03:11 AM Hi Bernie I support the use of public transit in densely populated areas like SD. It makes sense. Poway residents need better access to SD and agreed to pay for road enhancements through a tax increase. I feel that Sandag owes our residents the road enhancements that we were promised and should not divert the funding to other projects. We should hold our government agencies accountable to deliver what was promised or return our tax money. As a native San Diegan, a Poway resident since 1992, a 30 -yr teaching veteran of PUSD, and a lifelong lover of our natural world, we need to take bold steps to protect all the things we love about our part of the state. Given the recent UN report about species extinction and the documented effects of human impact on our world, I fear for the future of my children and their families. Our president insists climate change is a hoax and will not provide rational leadership. It's therefore up to us, here at the local level, to take the action needed. In your roll as our city's mayor, SANDAG Board Chair, and a county supervisor candidate, your voice holds a unique place. Your vote and your advocacy carries weight. I encourage you to seek the bold, visionary path that will bring the best long term outcome for all: support the construction of high speed trains, the implementation of time based tolls, and divert funds away from the construction of highways that only encourage MORE automobile traffic. The board of supervisors continues to allow dense housing in the North County (ie, near College on the 78) yet if Sandag gets its way, we will not have improved road freeways/roads. This idea of attempting to boost ridership via mass transit from 4% to 10% might happen in the downtown area, but will not happen here in NoCo. The 115 is a daily mess w/so many travelers from Riverside. So, please, stay firm and get monies for improvements that were promised for the 78, 67, etc. Kathy Herbert 5 of 7 May 21, 2019, Item # 4.1 From:rCa of Lew To: Lero, Tessa (Tessa. Writing today to encourage a NO vote on any raid of Transnet funds that were voted on in 2004 for specific highway improvements and using this money for other purposes, for example bike lanes. We voted specific highways to be improved (Hwy 67 for example) and that is what the money should be used for. If Sandag wants to spend the money elsewhere they should put is on the ballet and let the people vote. I am one of the 98% of San Diegans who drive my car to work - and I will not use mass transit or ride my bike - ever. We don't need more empty busses - or trolleys - or high speed trains. We do need more freeway access and well maintained roads. I don't believe it's SANDAG's job to force us into "net zero emissions," and I take great offense at having the President of SANDAG say that "...in this great country we just can't let people do what they want." He obviously doesn't understand the concept of democracy. Please don't allow him to steal our tax money and use it for his personal agenda. Please vote NO on the raids on our road repair funds, and oppose the proposed unfair Transit Sales Tax hike and Congestion Pricing Fee.
