AUGUST 9, 1990
The August 9, 1990, meeting of the City Council of the City of Poway,
adjourned from the August 7, 1990, regular meeting, was called to order at 4:40
p.m. by Mayor Higginson at the City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Drive,
Poway, California.

PERFORMING ARTS CENTER VIDEO
City Manager Bowersox stated this will be the premier showing of a promotional
video on the Performing Arts Center which will be used for several purposes,
including fund raising.
Director of Community Services Thomas introduced Becky Belfry who was respon-
sible for the production. She thanked Rick Bell, executive editor of the Powa~
News-Chieftain, for writing the script and Southwestern Cable who donated their
production facilities.
The Council viewed the seven minute video and thanked all those who were
involved in the production.

GENERAL PLAN UPDATE WORKPLAN
Staff report by City Manager Bowersox. This workplan for the required updating
of the General Plan has been prepared by John Bridges of Cotton/Beland. John
worked for the City of Poway's Planning Department when the original General
Plan was prepared and is very familiar with the document.
Council discussed the time frame for meetings and community input and concurred
those need to begin while the current Council is in office, and that this is
really a fine tuning process and no major changes are anticipated.

Motion by Councilmember Emery, seconded by Councilmember Goldsmith to adjourn to
Old Poway Park at 5:18 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., the Council reconvened and cut the
ribbon for the Historical Society's facility and adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
