City Manager Bowersox and Director of Community Services Clark presented the staff report.
On March 24, 2004 the Executive Director of Poway Senior Center (PSC) submitted a
proposal to the City requesting the City's financial support in funding Center operations.
Since that time, the City Council has authorized Poway Valley Senior Center Corporation
(PVSCC) to withdraw up to $155,000 from the Center's Endowment Fund, of which $119,300
was withdrawn. On June 22,2004, the City Council authorized a contract with a consultant to
conduct a third-party assessment of Center operations to determine what level of financial
support if any, the City should provide. After having read the consultant's report, the City
Council authorized a contract on January 25, 2005, to have the same consultant work directly
with the PVSCC to bring about significant operational and financial changes geared toward
financial independency. Each of the City Council's actions was fully supported by the PVSCC
Board of Directors. A summary of the consultant's activities and PSC's financial outlook for
FY2005/06 was presented to the Council.
There was no one present wishing to speak on this item.
