I am fully aware that these are privately owned and can be sold to whomever the current owners choose, but I am also aware that the City Council has to approve what can be built in their place. I have lived in Poway my entire life, growing up in the Poway Portals neighborhood and now owning two homes in the Garden Road area, one a rental and one our primary home. We love Poway, our roots are deep, I graduated Poway High, our daughter just graduated Poway High and we have a son in 5th grade that we would like to have graduate from Poway high as well. Our concern is the over building of south Poway and adding more homes to Poway Road will not only increase congestion and traffic but will over burden currently near capacity schools. It will decrease safety and detract from the already-disappearing country beauty that makes Poway what it is. I beg of you and the council to protect what little we have left of our City in the Country, which is why my parents moved here in 1970, and vote down the proposed 3-4 story condominiums that are up for approval for that space. Many families have left the area because of over building and Poway's history and soul quickly falling by the wayside. More will leave when the country is no more. Please help while you're able, once it's built, the damage can never be undone. We have already lost enough of Poway to apartments and condos, etc. A country town needs to be built upon single family homes, morals, quaint restaurants, family centered activities, churches and responsible business. Not a Main Street filled with condos, smoke shops, car dealers and fast food. Stop the madness! Thank you for your time and concern on this matter. Due to the lack of parking, already congested streets, and lack of low income housing, I'd like to share my disapproval of this project. Please consider a better proposal.
