Wednesday, September 9, 2020 9:55:12 PM I am writing to express my opposition to the new plans by Fairfield Development, updated from their original proposal in 2018. This new plan has no benefit to the residents of Poway and is not the type of development we want or need in the "City in the Country. This is NOT Mira Mesa, and residents do not want it to look like Mira Mesa. That is not why we bought our homes here. The new plan calls for taller building, less parking, less retail space and more cracker box condos. Why is this developer not being held to height restrictions with this proposal? The bowling alley and thrift stores provided much needed family fun and reasonably priced retail to this community. And we are trading it for what? Higher priced restaurants and retail and no parking? This will be a blight on the beautiful Poway skyline. You must not allow it to go through as proposed. The residents of Poway (those that actually LIVE in south Poway) already feel an unfair burden of low quality, high density development in this city and blame the Council for poor decisions on their behalf. Please do not add any more fuel to that fire by ramming this through. I also feel as though the city should assist the thrift stores that got put out of business in finding a new space for them to relocate to. They provided a great service to low income shoppers and bargain hunters, not to mention the benefit they brought as non-profits to their associated charities and churches. The members of the Poway Neighbors and Nextdoor FB groups are counting on all of you to look after the will and best interest of the South Poway residents. Please do the right thing.
