Lucas Steve Vaus; Barry Leonard; Caylin Frank; Dave Grosch; John Mullin; Vaida Pavolas Poway City Council Meeting, February 2, Item #8 Sunday, January 31, 2021 8:14:15 PM This item, brought up by Council Member Frank, recommends that the Poway Road Specific Plan be amended to permit the Thrift Stores (with a CUP) to operate in a mixed-use and town center zone. This is a great idea! The organizations that benefited from the sales of goods can't afford a place in "downtown" Poway. A number of people were able to donate their unwanted items to these stores for selling, and buyers could get a bargain on many many items, a win-win-win situation. Business property owners whose store fronts have been vacant for years could take advantage of renting to the thrift stores. While I don't know the logistics of it, imagine if the Thrifty/Rite-Aid store, which has been empty for far too many years, were to house a dozen of the thrift stores under one roof so shoppers wouldn't even have to leave the building to buy things and support charities.
