RESOLUTION NO. 06-020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A
FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE
COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
FOR THE KUMEYAAY-IPAIINTERPRETIVE CENTER AT PAUWAI
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego has announced the availability of
Community Enhancement Program funds for fiscal year 2006-07 from a percent of the
Transient Occupancy Tax revenue; and
WHEREAS, the Community Enhancement Program is intended to encourage
activities that promote and generate tourism and/or economic development within San
Diego County; and
WHEREAS, the Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center at Pauwai is a cultural
resource rich in archaeological significance and is of benefit to the entire County; and
WHEREAS, the Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center at Pauwai attracts visitors
and promotes tourism due to its unique attributes, and it promotes economic
development as people visit the Poway area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway is a legally constituted governmental entity under
the laws of the State of California and is in complete control of its affairs through its
officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway, as follows:
Section 1. Approves the submittal of a funding application to the County of
San Diego Community Enhancement Program for the County's 2006-2007 Fiscal Year.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
at a regular meeting this 21st day of March, 2006.
