ORDINANCE NO. 634
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF POWAY,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 2.04 OF
THE POWAY MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT
OF SECTION 2.04.020 TO INCREASE THE
COMPENSATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR
THE CITY COUNCIL OF POWAY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Title 2, Chapter 2.04 of the Poway Municipal Code is amended
by the amendment of Section 2.04.020 to read as follows:
2.04.020 Compensation
A. The Mayor shall receive as salary the sum of $1 ,361.32 per month and
each member of the City Council shall receive as salary the sum of $1,061.32 per
month as authorized by Section 36516 of the Government Code payable at the
same time and in the same manner as salaries that are paid to other officers and
employees of the City.
B. The salaries established by this section are exclusive of any amounts
payable to each member of the City Council as reimbursement for actual and
necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties for the City.
C. This section shall become operative on the date upon which one or
more members of the City Council become eligible, pursuant to Section 36516.5 of
the Government Code, for a salary increase by virtue of beginning a new term of
office following adoption of this section. Until the operative date of the salary
increase provided hereby as December 2006, each member of the City Council and
the directly elected Mayor shall continue to receive as salary the sums set forth in
the Poway Municipal Code.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30)
days after the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after
its passage, shall be published once with the names and members voting for and
against the same, in the Poway News Chieftain, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Poway.

Introduced and first read at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Poway held the 21st day of February 2006, and thereafter PASSED AND ADOPTED at
a regular meeting of said City Council held the 7th day of March 2006, by the following
roll call vote:
AYES: BOYACK, EMERY, HIGGINSON, CAFAGNA
