ObjectiveBy 2025: Edible Food Recovery Organic Waste Disposal SB 1383 establishes a statewide organic waste recycling target, as opposed to jurisdictional target and gives CalRecycle the power to impose the requirements necessary to achieve the statewide targets. 3
Terms Types of GeneratorsSingle‐Family:Pertaining to any residential premises with fewer than five unitsCommercial (includes Multi‐family):Firm, company, industrial facility, etc, or a Multi‐family residential dwelling with more than five unitsTier One Commercial Edible Food Generator: An edible food generator that is one of the following: Supermarket, Grocery store (>=10k sq ft), Food Service Provider, Food Distributor, Wholesale Food VendorTier Two Commercial Edible Food Generator: An edible food generator that is one of the following: Restaurant with 250 of more seats or a total facility size >= 5k sq ft, hotel with an on‐site food facility and 200 or more rooms, large venue, etc.4
