RESOLUTION NO. 06-037
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING ZONE ON METATE LANE AT
THE POMERADO ROAD INTERSECTION
WHEREAS, Section 21100 of the California Vehicle Code permits local authorities to
adopt by Resolution traffic control measures meeting the requirements set forth under Section
21351 of the California Vehicle Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 21351 of the California Vehicle Code permits the establishment of
No Parking Zones in the City of Poway; and
WHEREAS, Sections 10.28.060 Band C of the City's Municipal Code authorizes the
City to prohibit parking within 25 feet of an intersection controlled by a traffic signal; and
WHEREAS, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) recommends
that at a minimum, a length of 25 feet, measured from the crosswalk or end of curb return
should be signed as a No Parking Zone; and
WHEREAS, City staff has observed that cars parked on Metate Lane within 25-feet
from the intersection constitutes a potential hazard to motorists turning from Pomerado Road;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council ofthe City of Poway has determined that a 42-foot section
on the south side of Metate Lane, measured from the crosswalk of the intersection with
Pomerado Road and excluding the first westerly driveway, should be established as No
Parking or Stopping at Any Time Zone.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway as
follows:
Section 1: In accordance with said Section 21351 of the California Vehicle Code, a 42-foot
section on the south side of Metate Lane measured from the crosswalk of the intersection
with Pomerado Road and excluding the first westerly driveway, should be established as No
Parking or Stopping at Any Time Zone.

regular meeting thereof this 16th day of May 2006.
