My comments are in reference to the Amendment to the PRSO regarding Thrift Stores. I am against approval of this amendment. Poway is adding housing that is high priced and now we want to add low end shops in the Mixed Use land use district. Are you crazy? I was hoping that Poway would become more upscale with unique and high or medium level businesses. Making Poway a place to shop, work and play. Rather we're continuing on a path of a place to drive through and drop off your junk on the way to your final destination. This is a bad idea. Leave the thrifts shops, antique stores and consignment stores out of the main area of Poway. Build up the uniqueness of the Poway to entice people to shop and eat, or walk through our community. Think about why you're building new housing and store fronts. They are an eyesore. These stores are apparent to basically every visitor who comes through our town. The stores show how ghetto the community is. Please remove them from the front stage of Poway. I feel that anything on Poway Road is the front stage in which visitors, residents, and commuters see everyday. I know that they need to probably go somewhere in Poway, can't they be placed in the back view somewhere where they can still do business but not bring down the looks of our whole community? Why don't they just all come together and rent out 1 big building in the Poway business park? They would probably get way more customers anyways since they would have ample space to show off used furniture etc. Split the profits. I suggest removing that whole section and making room for either more Poway community park development (such as a nice stop over for travelers with nice stone picnic benches with abundant trees and grass [ possibly a second skatepark more for adults, the other poway skatepark is just for small teenagers. I skate big skate pools 10 foot deep end, an example is Vista. Vista has two skateparks within a couple of blocks from each other. One is for street course (little kids), the other has a vertical pool at 10 feet deep (more for adults or older skaters.] I'll attach a picture. Otherwise, if you do not want to build a new extended section of Poway community park, then the best bet would be to level the place out and get a nice Trader joe's shopping center. I'm also open to a big international market. I like Asian food, yet every week I need to drive out to either Mira Mesa or Clairmont just to get my Asian type food. My money goes into those towns and not Poway. I attached a picture of a big pool in Vista. These big pools often attract onlookers who are not even skaters. The general public likes to watch us. If it were just off of Poway Road, this could be a great enhancement for Poway. Maybe install a big pool like this and a big parking lot with new shops aimed at fun and excitement. I bet the Tony Hawk Foundation would donate part of the money to get this going. They funded the Linda Vista skatepark which is being praised by the Linda Vista community. 3 of 4 April 20, 2021, Item #13 Vista Skatepark, CA Linda Vista Skatepark thank you, Mark Plummer Poway Resident 4 of 4 April 20, 2021, Item #13
