comments concerning items on the agenda is encouraged.
In -Person Speakers I Persons wishing to address the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee on matters not
on the agenda may do so under Public Comments. Those wishing to speak on items on the agenda may do so
when the item is being considered. Please submit a Speaker's Slip to the Committee's Secretary prior to the
meeting or the announcement of the item. All comments will be limited to three (3) minutes.
Agenda Materials I This agenda contains a brief summary of items staff and the Committee will discuss. The
Agenda and Agenda Packet are posted 72 hours prior to Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meetings and
are available for viewing on the City's website at www.poway.org or the Bulletin Board at the entrance of City Hall,
13325 Civic Center Drive. Sign up at www.poway.org to receive email notifications when Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee agendas are published online.
American Disabilities Act Title II I In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, persons with a
disability may request an agenda in appropriate alternative formats as required by Title II. Any person with a

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
April 27, 2021
The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) of the City of
Poway was called to order by Assistant City Manager, Wendy Kaserman at 5:00 p.m. via Zoom.

PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Susan Mallett congratulated the members on their appointment to the Committee. For Item #4
on the agenda (Community Park Assessment), she suggested mileage markers be considered
for the perimeter walkway around Community Park.
1. INTRODUCTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Each Committee Member took a few minutes to introduce themselves.
2. BROWN ACT OVERVIEW
City Clerk, Vaida Pavolas presented an overview of the Brown Act and explained how it applied
to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
3. INTRODUCTION OF COMMUNITY SERVICES STAFF AND DIVISIONS
Each staff member was introduced followed by Recreation Supervisor Sarah Becker,
Recreation Supervisor Allie Margis, Recreation Supervisor Carrie Sanchez, Recreation
Supervisor Mike Varga, Community Services Manager Belinda Romero, and Senior
Management Analyst Roger Morrison providing division overviews, including information about
facilities and programs.
4. COMMUNITY PARK ASSESSMENT PROJECT
City Manager, Chris Hazeltine introduced the Community Park Assessment Project and
provided an overview of the public input process, an approximate timeline for the project, and

described the Committee's role in the project. Committee members will participate in the
stakeholder interview process and will also review the assessment findings prior to the
assessment being presented to the City Council for consideration. A project website would be
launched soon and staff or the consultant would be in contact with the Committee members
when it was time to schedule the interviews.
5. FUTURE MEETINGS
The next meeting was tentatively slated for the end of July 2021, but would be dependent upon
when information from the Community Park Assessment Project was ready to share with the
Committee. Potential dates will be sent out to committee members to determine availability.
