AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS FOR VAt{IOUS
STREETS WITHIN THE CITY
THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF POWAY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Pursuant to Section 22358 of the California Vehicle
Code permitting a decrease in local speed limits upon the completion
and recommendations of an engineering and traffic survey, Section
72.160 of the City of Poway Regulatory Ordinances is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 72.160. Decrease of speed limits in certain zones.
Section 72.161.42. The prima facie speed limit on Poway Road
between the west line of Oak Knoll Road and a point 500 feet
westerly of the west line of Tarascan Drive is hereby decreased
to and established at 40 miles per hour.
Section 72.161.46. The prima facie speed limit on Poway Road
between a point 220 feet easterly of the east line of Midland
Road and the north line of Matchpoint Drive is hereby decreased
to 40 miles per hour.

Section 72.161.59. The prima facie speed limit on Poway Road
between the north line of Matchpoint Drive and the west line
of Espola Road is hereby decreased to and established at 50
miles per hour.

Section 72.161.48. The prima facie speed limit on Espola Road
between the west City limit, of the City of Poway and the west
line of Cloudcroft Drive is hereby decreased to and established
at 45 miles per hour.

Section 72.161.48. Section 72.161.48 of the City of Poway
Regulatory Ordinances is hereby rescinded. Section 72.161.48
of the City of Poway Regulatory Ordinances shall now read as
follows:
The prima facie speed limit on Espola Road between
the west line of Cloudcroft and the south line of
Lake Poway Road shall be decreased to and established
at 50 miles per hour.

Section 72.161.57. The prima facie speed limit on Espola Road
from the north line of Poway Road to the south line of Lake
Poway Road is hereby decreased to and established at 45 miles
per hour.
Section 72.161.62. The prima facie speed limit on Poway Road
from the west line of Espola Road to the west line of State
Route 67 is hereby decreased to and established at 50 miles
per hour.
Section 72.161.42. The prima facie speed limit on Pomerado Road
between the north line of Glenoak Road and the north limits of
the City of Poway is hereby decreased to and established at 45
miles per hour.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after
adoption and shall within fifteen (15) days of adoption be published
with the names of the Councilmembers voting for and against the same
in the Poway News Chieftain, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed and circulated within the City of Poway.
Introduced and first read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Poway held the 4th day of January, 1983 and thereafter
PASSED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City Council held
the llth day of January, 1983 by the following roll call vote:
