Ord 651 ORDINANCE NO. 651 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2.18 OF THE POWAY MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 2.18.040 CHANGING THE TIME AND PLACE OF REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND AMENDING SECTION 2.18.070 CONCERNING THE ORDER OF BUSINESS ON THE AGENDA WHEREAS, a revision to the procedures governing City Council meetings is required in order to provide for the efficient transaction of the public business compatible with full public participation; and WHEREAS, on February 6, 2007, the City Council held a duly advertised public hearing to solicit comments from the public, both pro and con, relative to this change. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Chapter 2.18 of the Poway Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 2.18.040 to read as follows: 2.18.040 Time and place of reoular meetinos. Unless canceled, the City Council shall hold regular meetings in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 13325 Civic Center Drive, in the City or at such other place as may be determined by the Council, on the first, second and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. When the day of each regular meeting of the Council falls on a holiday as defined in California Government Code Section 6700, no meeting shall be held on such holiday, but a regular meeting shall be held at 7:00 p.m. on the next succeeding business day thereafter, or at such time and place as may be previously established by the Council. Section 2: Chapter 2.18 of the Poway Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 2.18.070 to read as follows: Section 2.18.070 Aoenda - Order of business. B. The business of the Council shall be taken up for consideration and disposition in the following order: 1. Roll call; 2. Pledge of Allegiance; 3. City Councilmember Announcements 4. Proclamations and awards; 5. Public oral communications; 6. Consent items; 7. Continued public hearings and ordinance readings; Ordinance No. 651 Page 2 8. New public hearings and ordinance readings; 9. Staff reports; 10. City Manager items; 11. City Attorney items; 12. Mayor and Council-Initiated items; 13. Adjournment. The regular order of business may be changed or suspended for any purpose at any particular meeting by the Mayor with the consent of the majority of the Council members present. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be codified. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days after the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, it shall be published once with the names and members voting for and against the same in the Poway News Chieftain, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Poway. Introduced and first read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Poway held this 6th day of February 2007 and thereafter PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City Council held the 20th day of February 2007, by the following roll call vote.
