Notes 11-30-22CITY OF POWAY MEMORANDUM TO: Chris Hazeltine, City Manager FROM: Jeff Chumbley, Fire Chief DATE: November 30, 2022 SUBJECT: Fire Department Management Staff Notes FIRE ADMINISTRATION 1  Visited with High Valley resident for area familiarization and wildfire discussion.  2 Met with all the department fire captains for the scheduled quarterly Captains Meeting.  3 First Responder recognition dinner was held at the VFW and we honored Firefighter David Ontiveros as Firefighter of the Year.  4 Fire Prevention Division attended General Atomics monthly action items status meeting.  5 Fire Prevention and Operations attended General Atomics audit meeting with DCMA. Affected crews contacted and advised.  2 First revision of department EMS Standards of Care document submitted. Edits made and second revision initiated.  3 Firmware updates started on the controlled substance vaults.   SAFETY  1 Santa Ana College wellness class. Crews discussed different ways of staying healthy and physically fit. Along with participating in a TRX workout circuit.  2 Began demolition of upstairs offices at Fire Station 1. This project will allow personnel to move offices upstairs. As well as improve Health and Wellness by reconfiguring where PPE is stored.  3 Conducted probationary hoselay testing of Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic Bollenbacher.   TRAINING  1 Probationary Firefighter Jeff Brown successfully completed his final manipulative skills testing on 11/27/22  2 Station 1 crews utilized the demolition of the upstairs offices to practice salvage/overhaul and breeching techniques  3 Reviewed the 2023 annual training plan with the training cadre and should be ready to present in the next few weeks  4 Registered myself for a UASI sponsored PIO (Public Information Officer) course that will take place in February of 2023   TRAINING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HOURS 230  Between Monday, November 14th and Sunday, November 27th, personnel completed 230 hours of training and activities. The top three topics included 89 hours of Company Training, 75 hours of Facility Training, and 29 hours of Driver/Operator Training OPERATIONS  1 Attended Metro Zone Operations meeting  2 Coordinated General Atomics audit of the Fire Department with DCMA  3 Coordinated and participated in the quarterly Captain’s meeting  4 Installation of WestNet station alerting equipment installed on the second floor of Fire Station #1 as part of the remodel project.   DISASTER PREPAREDNESS Disaster Preparedness Coordinator recognized for years of service.
