CC 2008 05-20 City of Poway, California Minutes of the City Council Regular Meeting May 20, 2008 The May 20, 2008 Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Poway was called to order at 7.08 p.m. by Mayor Cafagna at the Poway City Council Chambers, 13325 Civic Center Drive, Poway, California. City Councilmember Announcements Council member Boyack thanked staff for their meeting with the High Valley residents. The residents were appreciative of the meeting and of the staff's efforts. Presentations Presentation of Certificate to Hewlett Packard for Donation of Equipment Following the Witch Creek Fire: Mayor Cafagna presented a proclamation to Quality Support and Reliability Manager Anthony Lipscomb of Hewlett Packard (HP) in recognition of HP's donating equipment to the City of Poway following the Witch Creek Fire to help with the recovery efforts. 9035 Page 2 - City of Poway - May 20, 2008 Presentation of Certificate of Recognition to Sheriffs Lieutenant Dennis Yoshonis: Mayor Cafagna presented a certificate of recognition to retiring Lt. Dennis Yoshonis. Lt Yoshonis started with the San Diego County Sheriff Department in 1978 and has served at the Poway Sheriff's substation since August 31,2007 Proclamation - Water Awareness Month: Mayor Cafagna presented a proclamation to Kristen Crane, Water Conservation Administrator, declaring the month of May to be Water Awareness Month in the City of Poway Water Awareness Poster Contest Winners: Kristen Crane, Water Conservation Administrator, announced the winners of the City of Poway's Water Awareness Poster Contest and provided the student winners with prizes. The winners, all of Valley Elementary School, were. Pantea Sayer - First Place Jennifer Martinez Allyson Kusuda EDCO Waste and Recycling Services Presentation on Recycling: Kevin Haupt, Director of Public Works, introduced Jeff Ritchie, Vice President of EDCO Mr Ritchie presented a video on recycling and EDCO's role in promoting recycling. Public Oral Communications Connie Messina spoke about the need to change the home based business zoning rules to allow clients to visit business owners at home Staff responded that the matter has been addressed in the new zoning code amendment Continued Public HearinQs 1 Ordinance No 674 - Second Reading, Entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Poway, California, Amending Chapters 1704, 1708, 1710, 1716, 1718, 17.20, 17.21, 17.22, 17.23, 17.28, 1732, 1734, 17.35, 1740, 1742, 1746, and 1752 of the Poway Municipal Code Pertaining to Corrections to Technical Errors in Code Referencing, Reinstating Inadvertently Deleted Text and Minor Text Additions to Clarify Zoning Ordinance Standards (ZOA 08-01)." (0210-80) Dee Fleischman asked for clarification regarding setback requirements.
